Rob Lowe Evacuated Home Amidst 'Armageddon'-Like Wildfire

A California wildfire forced Rob Lowe to evacuate his Montecito home in a scene the actor described as "just like Armageddon."

Lowe told a local TV station he and his son were watching football Thursday night when his wife called to warn him about the raging fire, reports L.A.'s CBS 2 / KCAL 9. Lowe said he and his children exited their home only to find surrounding mountains ablaze, an inferno whipped into the sky by 70-mph winds.

The 44-year-old star said his house made it through the fire unscathed. Other Montecito residents, though, weren't as lucky. Buildings on the property of 'Back to the Future' star Christopher Lloyd took heavy damage in the fire, says the Los Angeles Times.

A second major wildfire around L.A. County is also making headlines. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency Saturday morning.
